ING/Voya

ING/Voya | Consumer Portal & Rebrand
UX Lead for the ING-to-Voya rebrand of the consumer portal and key digital experiences, including mobile-first initiatives. Voya consumer portal, The orange money marketing campaign, and Participant Portal, Financial Advisor Portal, Asset Allocations, & Customer Account Opening Experiences, and the morning star integration with the 401k consumer experience.
Role
Lead UX Designer, Information Architect & Interaction Designer | Focus: Portal redesign, rebranding, mobile-first design, financial tools, account opening.
Problem
Following the rebrand from ING to Voya, the existing consumer and advisor portals needed a complete visual and functional overhaul to align with the new brand identity (including the Orange Money campaign) while delivering clearer, more intuitive experiences for account opening, 401(k) management, asset allocation, and advisor tools. The mobile experience also lagged behind user expectations.
Voya
Approach
As Lead UX Designer, Information Architect, and Interaction Designer, I partnered with the new Voya Marketing VP and we audited the existing portal, redesigned from the ING branding to the new Voya consumer portal brand guidelines, did a deep dive into redesigning the primary navigation, the customer login experience, participant dashboard, the financial advisor portal, asset allocation tools, and customer account-opening flows. Work included the Orange Money marketing campaign integration, Morningstar data integration within the 401(k) consumer experience, and mobile-first design patterns to ensure consistency across devices.
Outcome
The redesigned experiences successfully transitioned users to the new Voya brand while delivering more intuitive account management, clearer financial tools, and a stronger mobile experience—supporting smoother onboarding, higher engagement with 401(k) features, and a cohesive digital presence across consumer and advisor audiences.
